Lip Flip: More Than Just Cute.

“Lip flip” is the newest beauty trend in injectables, and it’s
taking over.  Exactly what is it and how does it work?    If you are interested in giving your lips a tiny pout and trying to rescue your disappearing top lip when you smile, read on!

Okay, so lip filler is fabulous!  Filler is fun!  However, some people aren’t exactly sure about diving off in to the lip filler pool, so lip flip is the perfect way to “dip your toe in that pool” without diving in.

We at Face are huge fans of the lip flip, a simple Dysport
or Botox treatment that helps to relax the top lip and very subtly “flip” it up, revealing a less gummy smile and giving the illusion of more volume.

How exactly does this work?  Approximately 4 tiny injections are given in to the area right above the top lip.  Dysport, or Botox is used, as
these injectables work to relax the orbicularis muscle (the muscle that wraps around the lips).  This action causes the top lip to take a slight “flip” upward.  The results can be fully seen around 3-5 days later.

Imagine this:  You have a purse or backpack that has a cinch at the top that you pull tight to close it up.  When you release and loosen
the cinch on your bag to open it up, the top flips open.  This is essentially how the lip flip works.

We are loving this treatment and have put an even better spin on the lip flip treatment by adding a teeny-tiny bit of filler in the form of a very small bolus right at the point of each cupid’s bow to give just a bump of volume.  Some clients are springing for just a bit more by having their vermillion border (lip border) injected with a bit of filler.

The results are subtly but very nice.  This is relatively inexpensive ($50-$65) and lasts about 2-3 months.  There is no downtime, and the procedure takes just a couple of minutes.  It’s painless and you’re in and out of the office quickly.

Here’s the real hidden plus in this fun treatment; for years
we injectors have actually been doing lip flip without the cute name, and for different reasons.   So, we inject neuromodulators (Dysport) in other areas of the face, right?  Between the brows to eliminate those 11’s, across the forehead to smooth lines, around the eyes to soften “crow’s feet”…

As stated above, this works to relax the muscle to prevent repetitive
movements that etch lines in our faces over time.  Yep, we’ve been injecting above the top lip for years to relax that muscle to prevent  LIP LINES!!!!  There is your double whammy for this unique treatment!  You’re not only getting a slight pop from your top lip, but your doing yourself a favor by preventing those future lip lines.  It’s always nice to get 2 treatments for the price of 1, right?

If you have more questions about the lip pop that’s taking over the aesthetic nation, call us and we can go over all the details with you!  Please take a moment of silence to remember all the lips that aren’t getting flipped today.

Why be a sparkler when you can be the whole firework show?
