"Daddy said"

The past 8-10 months have been a complete whirlwind.  I moved across the street with what I thought was a thriving business only to see it bust open and grow threefold.  Praise God, because he and I have put in A LOT of late hours together.  “Hard work pays off”, Daddy said.

I have loved Face First since the day I sent her paperwork to the state of Oklahoma for her very own “proof of inception”, and like a child, I’ve loved her more every day.  So many twists and turns; so many changes…  “Be patient.  It’ll happen.  You’re working too hard for it not too.”, Daddy said.

So, what’s new at Face?  Buckle up!

We are offering more laser services, which include brown spot removal, Pulse-Dye (Bye-Bye purple scars and stretch marks, red moles, and anything else brightly colored you hate) and a new IPL Photo facial laser.

Our hours have extended and many more of my clients are taking advantage of online scheduling.  We are now working later 2-3 days per week and offer some Saturday appointments for our out of towners to take care of all your injectable needs.

I have an amazing new Medical Director that is involved in my practice and teaching me so many new things.  She has been an absolute God send.  Our monthly dinners consist of thinking up new things to bring to the table at Face and ways to grow and expand.  Expect a lot of new services over the next 12 months.

I welcomed a new addition.  A little gem called HYDRAFACIAL.  No big deal, just the most popular aesthetic treatment in the US currently per Good Morning America and Real Self.  I couldn’t even sleep the first night I got that little Cadillac.

Probably my most substantial gain for Face First is with my need to grow my staff, and I found a gem.  Heather came to work for my last August as a receptionist.  It soon became evident that I alone couldn’t handle the heavy schedule.  My little gem went hard over the winter and is now a licensed esthetician.

My little baby Face First…  About 6 years ago, a good handful of people were skeptical of it paying its own bills in little Stigler.  Face has now hired additional staff to provide esthetic services for our clients.  “Be smart”, Daddy said.  I used all the brains I had to get this dream up off the ground.  Thank you, Jesus, for a nice breezy wind to carry it up.

I’ve spent a lot of my life wondering why things haven’t came easy.  Why it’s so hard to find happiness in a career and be able to make ends meet when it seems like everyone around me is stacking assets right and left.  In my 40’s it occurred to me that I am a gypsy.  Yes, I said it.  Thank you again God that I had enough sense at 18-19 years of age to obtain a degree for the days when my gypsy heart would override my logical, grounded mind.  I’ve been good at a lot of things, but not necessarily excellent at any one thing.  I dabbled in a little of this and that, trying to free my spirit and connect some dots.

From a huge business owner in long term care, to the fitness guru who trained and ran marathons for years….from the nomad who walked away from a big business and  bought a flower shop, to the graphic artist  who can tell you anything about how to screen print  tee shirts… from the woman with two kids to the  tomboy/mom who researched how to buy and care for a monkey and raised baby squirrels in her bathtub…  from the young girl who hid failures, imperfections and secrets to maintain perfection, to the grown woman with integrity that doesn’t care so much anymore about past mistakes and wrong turns.

I finally found my place.  Not just in my business, but in my personal life.  However, I still remember what Daddy said, “Babe, you don’t know anything until you are 50.”

Face is alive and well.  I can almost hear her exhale every time I open the door and walk in.  I breathed life into her, and she breathes it back into me.  Face First doesn’t have to make me wealthy, she just makes me content.  That’s worth millions every day.  “Money isn’t everything, but it helps.”  Daddy said in his “dad” honesty.

For anyone who is tired of me gushing about how thankful I am for the loyal patronage I have gained from my clientele, stop reading now.  I could get down on my knees and thank so many people for trusting me, letting me learn, spending hard earned money with me, having confidence in me when I felt like I had chased down another dead end path, having conviction to tell me, “You got this.  This is happening for you.  Just wait.”  Thank you.  It’s not about money.  It’s about peace.  You’re not making me wealthy, your making me content and giving me peace that I’ve searched high and low for.   And for anyone that has pined for peace and contentment, you know that guttural feeling.

Keep following along.  Face has a lot more in store.  From the simplicity of a second roll-over phone line and an actual business phone system (“see ya” cell phone and no more missed calls) to a couple more substantial transitions in the next 6-12 months.  Curious?  I can’t tell you that. Face and I must keep a few things to ourselves.  “Be trustworthy and loyal”, Daddy said.
